Small things with great love…DUFH.org

On Tuesday, January 2010 Haiti was struck with a catastrophic earthquake that has resulted in thousands of lost lives and millions of people in need of emergency aid. We all have seen the pictures. We all can empathize with the dire situation in Haiti.

This really hits home when a family member or close friend is affected by the catastrophy.  A friend of mine has experienced the tragedy first hand.  Described the thousands of dead bodies, the decimation of Haiti’s infrastructure, the loss of basic services such as food and shelter.  It is sad to hear these stories.  Yet, there is hope.  I have seen it in his eyes, I have heard it in his voice.  He speaks proudly of his country.  He describes the resilience, the new ideas, and the determination of his fellow haitians.

It is amazing to see him rise to the occasion.  He has created a nonprofit organization for doctors facilitating them to help in Haiti.  By physicians volunteering in Haiti, he has been able to provide the Haitians the tools need to rebuild good healthcare for themselves. He does need more help.  He asked me to write this blog to help the cause.  I hope I can help in a greater extent in the coming future.  Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to fly down to Haiti and help in the trenches.  If not, atleast my hope is that I have added a little to the cause.

Mother Theresa, once said “In this life we cannot always do great things.  But we can do small things with great love.”

It is with a lot of love that I write this blog.  The love for the haitians, the love for my friend, above all the love of mankind.  I hope you can help Haiti.  If not in the trenches, then even a small blog will help advance this worthwhile cause.  Please learn more at dufh.org.

Sincerely,

Ashok K. Tyagi DO, MBA
